Goal planner: SIP needed for a goal
Enter what the goal costs in today's money, when you need it, expected inflation and the return you assume.
How it is calculated
The goal's cost grows by inflation every year. Money already saved grows at the assumed return. The monthly SIP is the amount that, invested at the start of each month at the monthly equivalent of the yearly return, fills the gap exactly.
Worked example
A ₹25 lakh education cost 12 years away at 7% inflation will cost about ₹56.30 lakh. At an assumed 11% a year, that needs a monthly SIP of about ₹19,514.
Common questions
How much SIP do I need for my child's education?
Grow today's cost by education inflation (often 8–10% a year) to the year it is needed, subtract what your savings will grow to, and divide the gap by the SIP growth factor. The calculator does this for you.
What inflation should I use?
India's consumer inflation has averaged roughly 5–7% a year over the last two decades; education and healthcare have often risen faster.
Can I use this for retirement?
Yes, for the corpus you need on the day you retire. To see how long a corpus lasts once you start withdrawing, use the SWP calculator.
